At their “What’s New From Inklore” panel during Anime Expo 2026, Inklore announced that they will be bringing Tomoko Yamashita’s Ikoku Nikki to English print in Summer 2027.
Nominated for the Manga Taisho Award and Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize, this beloved manga follows reclusive novelist Makio, who finds her world changed when she takes in her orphaned teenage niece, Asa. The series was recently adapted into the anime Ikoku Nikki: Journal with Witch, winning the prestigious 63rd Galaxy Award Encouragement Prize and Galaxy Monthly Award - TV Category (March 2026) in the television category.
“I am so happy to announce the English-language version of Ikoku Nikki!” Yamashita says in a statement provided for Inklore’s panel, “I am delighted and excited that this story, which I poured my heart into creating, will now reach even more people.”
